Our Story

The name Ababo comes from the nickname given to Kelta Koboto, the coffee farming father of my wife's siblings. "2k," pronounced "tukiya," means coffee and is spelled to reflect this pronunciation. Together, Ababo 2k essentially means "my father's coffee," and honors Kelta Koboto's legacy.

We are both an importer and grower of specialty Ethiopian coffee, partnering with Dukechi Coffee, Honey, and Spice Farm in Tepi, Ethiopia. Our 642-acre farm is a truly special place.

Our Farm and Practices

Located in a tropical paradise with three rivers and countless massive trees, the farm is surrounded by lush coffee trees, bees, and fields of flowers. The unique environment produces coffee beans with amazing smooth, yet bold, flavors and notes.

With well-managed and new cleaning/washing stations being installed in 2025, and surrounded by rich mineral waters that aid in the washing process, our farm plants over 50,000 new coffee trees each year using only organic farming practices. Our farm is expected to be one of the largest single-origin producers in the region.
